Can't take the Midwest outta the girl, but you can add a dash o' Portlander (day 18)

I'm so dizzy

-Blue skies were the prevailing theme of today.  I have to admit the beautiful weather totally made my day off that much better.  Also today was a radio day, every song I heard just improved my mood.  It started off with The Knack's My Sharona and was all uphill from there.

-Woke up with the plan of cleaning my place, but that plan got thrown right out the window when I saw the weather outside.  It's not often we get such beautiful and dry weather, which was begging to be taken advantage of, so why waste the time inside.  I decided to start with a walk with Lucy to the park.  After that we headed out to Portland to check out local sock Mecca Sock Dreams. It was the first time in my 5 1/2 years that I've been to the Selllwood neighborhood.  What a great little area! Sock Dreams has a fantastic selection of socks for any sock lover, from the funky to the understated. They have a little something for everyone of all ages. It was definitely worth the trip.

-While I was down there I hit up Spiel Werk Toys, all kinds of fun kid stuff in there. I will admit I happily picked up an awesome shooter marble, you know for all those on the fly pickup games of marbles that I play.  A girl's gotta be prepared.  And I think kids just don't play old-school games like marbles or jacks anymore.  I am now making the proclamation that I will buy my future children marbles and jacks and show them how to play. (See picture below for proof)

Super Awesome Shooter Marble

-Also stopped in the Grand Central Baking Company and picked up a chocolate croissant, my weakness when they are made well.  This one was worth stopping for.

-JT and I hit up the Columbia Tech Center Park for a walk, which made Lucy extremely happy two lengthy walks in one day! What a lucky girl.

-After talking to a friend on the phone I decided to do the unthinkable for me, go through my books and get rid of some of them.  I really want to try to keep my possessions down to a minimum and while I've always loved my books I decided to face reality, they mainly collect dust.  So I went through them and made 2 piles telling myself that I had to keep equal to or less than what I was getting rid of.  I was successful in that, I think I am getting rid of about 70-80 books.  They are all packed up and in my trunk so that I can't rationalize keeping any of them.  I am going to try and get down to Powell's by the end of the week to physically sell them so they are no longer in my possession.  I was given a good way to determine whether or not I need to keep something, I need to look at decide when the last time I handled the item and if it is imperative to my happiness or if it has sentimental value.  If not, then be gone with it.  I have a feeling I will be getting rid of many, many things.
